That's Saturday, April 18th (6-11pm). Purchase tickets in the school office or here on the blog (in the upper right hand corner)! For more information, call 612-668-1600. If you're an adult, you're invited, of course! Any adults you know are also invited! You don't just have to be a Waite Park parent or affiliated with the school at all. We consider this a huge community event, and we love to see people from all over come and visit and support our children.
Also, if you have a child at Waite Park, this is the last week to contribute to the classroom baskets. Those baskets will be part of the auction prizes (contact your classroom rep for more details -- their email is listed on the sidebar of this blog). Like every year, we have some amazing auction items, including a bowling party worth $200+; tickets to the children's theater; art projects by selected classrooms; tons of beer and wine; and so much more! It's a fun and popular event that hundreds come to enjoy with us every year, and we hope to see you, too!
And, of course, we thank our WONDERFUL sponsors. Please check out the links to their websites below, and if you get a chance, we encourage you to head into their establishments. You and they are what make Northeast so great.

Still not sure? Check out the Spring Social FAQ below (after the jump):
Waite Park Spring Social: Frequently asked questions
What is this event?
The
Social is a major annual fundraising event hosted for and by the Waite
Park Community School Parent Teacher Association. In previous years it’s
been known as the Spring Gala, and has been a Waite Park tradition
since 2007. The theme this year: An Old Fashioned Circus.
Circus! Will there be scary clowns?
No.
When and where is the Social? Where do I park?
The
2015 event will be held Saturday, April 18 from 6-11 pm. This year
we’re excited to host the event at the Solar Arts building, a beautiful
new art and gathering space in the heart of Northeast. It’s at 711 15th
Ave NE just off Monroe St, and west of the Northrup King building.
Solar Arts is one of the reasons USA Today hailed Northeast as the
nation’s #1 arts district!
Parking is on-street in a safe Northeast neighborhood.
How much does it cost and where do I get tickets?
Advance tickets are $15 in advance at the school office or online with Paypal at waiteparkpta.blogspot.com, or $20 at the door.
What will I do with the kids?
The
Social is strictly an adult event (21+), but the kids can have fun too:
registration is available now for childcare at Waite Park during the
Social; for details check with the park office or
https://apm.activecommunities.com/minneapolisparks/Activity_Search/parent-s-night-out-spring-social/42106.
Cost is $15 for the first child, $12 for each additional per family
(must be potty trained). Otherwise, for such an inexpensive night out,
it’s worth hiring a babysitter.
What’s to eat and drink?
We’ll have lots of delicious food donated by Northeast restaurants, and adult beverages from local businesses.
Will I know anyone there?
Chances
are, yes. This event is open to anyone who wants to support Waite Park
School so you’ll be joining parents of current students and alumni,
staff from Waite Park and other Northeast schools, and your Northeast
neighbors and community leaders. It’s also a great opportunity to
welcome new and prospective parents to the Waite Park community. We’re
expecting about 200-250 guests.
What events are planned? What will be in the silent auction?
You’ll
be enjoying a fabulous dinner, carnival games, a wine and beer raffle,
and a live and silent auction while you socialize with friends and
neighbors. The Silent Auction items will be donated by local businesses,
and each classroom at Waite has put together a themed basket of their
own. Prizes will be available for a wide range of budgets - from $20
gift certificates to a summer weekend at a cabin. Payment will be
accepted at the end of the evening by check or credit card, or pick up
following the event can be arranged.
What should I wear?
Dress
is casual to semi-formal. You will have no kids in tow, so why not
seize the opportunity to go out in something other than a t-shirt and
sweatpants…?
Where does the money go?
All
proceeds benefit the Waite Park Parent Teacher Association to support
our students, teachers, and staff. The PTA funds buses for field trips,
classroom project grants, community events like the summer carnival,
dances, book sales, Family Dinner Night, and much more.
Thank you for supporting Waite Park Community School!
