For the safety of your child and the other children who attend Waite Park, please don't drop off your child on 34th Ave between 8:50 - 9:10 am. The buses drop off children on 34th and it makes for an unsafe situation when cars are trying to squeeze into the bus lane. The school encourages parents/guardians to drop children off on Ulysses. There is a sidewalk for children to use that leads to the school.
In addition to parent drop off/[pick up, please be aware that there is NO parking between the NO PARKING signs in front of the building on the curved driveway (west end). There was recently an accident because cars were parked in the NO PARKING zone and a bus couldn't make the turn safely.
There is a staff parking lot to the south of the building, which also has one handicapped spot. The handicapped spot is NOT to be blocked at any time. Our handicapped students' families need to have access to that spot in order to safely deliver their children to school and there have recently been problems with it being blocked.
Yes, the ice and snow make parking and drop off/pick up difficult for everyone. Thank you in advance for taking a few extra minutes to make the situation workable for everyone.
