November 9 Begins Enrollment Period for Free Tutoring

Free tutoring services are available through the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program for academically struggling students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The SES program uses federal funds to provide low-income students with academically intensive, high quality extended day learning opportunities that can help students become proficient on standardized state assessments in reading, math and English language proficiency.

In Minneapolis, 20 percent of the school district’s Title I federal funding is designated for SES and school choice. This year, MPS has up to $8.7 million available from Title I for SES. The next enrollment period for eligible students begins November 9 and ends December 18. For more information about these services and enrollment forms in English, Spanish, Hmong & Somali, go the SES website
