Health Fair a Big Hit!

Yes, that's our Rec+ Mike Madison, who cooked up some healthy food for the Waite Park PTA Family Health Fair on November 19, 2009.  A great turn-out of families learned more about eating well, enjoyed some great ideas for fun ways to stay active, and filled out "commitment cards," with the hopes of winning an exercise ball if their family achieved their personal health-related goals through December 15.    Thanks to the National PTA for awarding Waite Park the grant that funded the Family Health Fair.   Thanks also to Eastside Food Co-op, who brought samples of healthy snacks for kids, along with ideas and information about nutrition for kids.  Thanks also to Fitness Crossroads for contributing Yoga, Dance and Fitness instructors, who taught the kids new ways to stay active.  And a big Thank You to the grant-writing team of parent Teresa Kleinschmidt (Isabel, 115) and our own fabulous Phys. Ed. teacher, Kammie Jackson, for this fantastic event.  The representative from the University of Minnesota Extension programs said it was the best school health fair she'd ever attended.  Great job, everyone!
